Andrea Moore grew up in an artistic family. She drew the figure for three hours every Saturday morning in high school so by the time she started art school at Washington University in St. Louis she was ready for other pursuits. Realizing at the beginning of her freshman year that she enjoyed making the stretchers more than painting the paintings she majored in sculpture. She found that printmaking goes hand in hand with sculpture and has been doing both ever since. She has found that teaching art to children has such immediacy and feeds her own work. She has taught at The Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven CT, on the Elizabeth Islands, at the Catumet Arts Center and in Belem, Brazil. Currently she divides her time between her studio in Gloucestershire, UK and her studio on Cape Cod. All of her prints are concerned with spatial relationships, sculptural shapes and geometry. Her prints and her sculpture are informed by her interest in textiles and textile traditions.
